Introduction to KSA

Knapp Schmidt Architects has specialized in providing architectural services for veterinary and animal care facilities for over forty years.

KSA was redesigned in 1994 to carry on the veterinary specialty designs of E. John Knapp & Associates, established in 1972. E. John Knapp (1916-2017) was an award-winning architect, a long-time member of the American Institute of Architects, and author of the iconic reference manual The Floor Plan Book: Veterinary Hospital and Boarding Kennel Planning and Design.

Mark Schmidt, Architect, AIA, is currently the owner of Knapp Schmidt Architects, LLC.

Our expertise ranges from small, large, and mixed-practice animal hospitals to hospitality facilities, such as boarding and daycare, to animal shelters and humane societies.
