Humane society shelters
and animal control facilities are an important segment
of the KSA architectural practice.
Inside you'll see
photos of some of the recently completed buildings for
which KSA did the architectural design.
The Portage County
Animal Protective League in Ohio was so impressed with
our facility in Crawford County, Ohio, that we arranged
for them to use our plans to create a building of their
own.
Currently on the drawing
board is the Kane County Animal Control facility in
Geneva, Illinois. When complete the building will be
more than 15,000 square feet with a capacity of 150
animals.
On the smaller end
of the scale, but equally exciting for our designers,
we hope to begin work on a small addition and alterations
to the Toledo Animal Shelter (TAS).
Described by the TAS
board president as "the Cadillac of non-profits,"
the 75-year-old group was begun by society ladies primarily
to rescue the dray horses who pulled milk wagons in
this northern Ohio city.
Supported by fund
raising, an endowment, and generous members, this private
group does all spaying and neutering and is a no-kill
shelter. They receive no government funds. |
