Where
are your clients taking their pets this vacation season? These days,
many folks are seeking the upscale features of a pet resort for
their furry friends. Because KSA lead architect Mark Schmidt was
quoted recently in a Miami Herald Sunday edition front page article
about pet resorts, we decided to feature some of our designs in
this 30th anniversary newsletter. For several years Mark has done
presentations at the Veterinary Economics Hospital Design Conference
about the integration of boarding and animal hospitals. In a talk
before doctors at the Western Veterinary Conference in Las Vegas
in 1998, Mark noted that the decision by veterinarians to offer
boarding services is usually driven by client demand. "Often, providing
boarding facilities is the difference that keeps a client from finding
another veterinarian," he said. Four years later, KSA has designed
buildings for several hospital/boarding/day care services. Some
are brand new, and others are additions to existing hospitals whose
owners needed to expand their pet hospitality areas to keep pace
with demand. From Northern Wisconsin to Southern Florida, busy pet
owners are taking advantage of the one-stop pet care provided in
KSA facilities with both veterinary and hospitality services. Features
include radiant heating in floors, hydrotherapy whirlpools, behavior
training, and just plain fun time for the pets. See inside for more!
