People always want
to know how much it's going to cost. So in this issue
we try to give you at least an idea of how much you
can expect to pay for the kind of air handling system
you need for animal care facilities.
To synopsize past
articles: Heating, ventilating and air-conditioning
(HVAC) ductwork transmits sound and odor. To control
the transmission of this unpleasantness (which you'd
like to keep out of your public areas) you need a building
design that prevents the HVAC ducts from penetrating
walls that separate public areas from treatment and
housing areas.
Typically this involves multiple HVAC units in order
to control air handling of the different zones separately.
This is not cheap.
HVAC costs are dependent
on a number of variables, so it's hard to predict simply
based on square feet of the building. Still, we can
help you get a grip on the ballpark you're in when building
new or remodeling a building of another use to create
a veterinary and/or boarding facility.
Forewarned is forearmed.
